David Sokol
David Sokol began pursuing his love of photography when he attended White Pines College in Chester, NH. where he graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Photography. Shortly after graduating college, he started his photojournalism career freelancing for local newspapers north of Boston. In 2004 David accepted a full-time photojournalist position with Community Newspaper Company, now Gannett/USA Today Network, where he worked for 20 years. David is now a photojournalist for the North of Boston Media group working for the Gloucester Daily Times and the Salem News. David works well with reporters and editors and is efficient in providing photographs and editing on a tight deadline. David has experience with both Mac OSX and Windows based computer systems while using these computer programs, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, Audacity, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
Over the years David has won numerous awards ranging from internal nation-wide company contests to the National Press Photography monthly clip contests and the yearly New England Press Association contest. David continues to capture unique and interesting heartfelt moments and searches for new exciting ideas and techniques to improve his photography career.

David was named 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Photojournalist of the Year in the weekly/small website category of the annual New England Newspaper and Press Association, Better Newspaper Competition. David also was honored to be named the 2015 Photographer of the Year and runner-up 2015 Videographer of the Year in the Best of GateHouse annual competition held nationwide throughout the company. David has won numerous other awards in the National Press Photographers Association New England region monthly clip competition, New England Newspaper & Press Association, Suburban Newspapers of America, New England Press Association, as well as being nominated for Photographer of the Year in the 2010 New England Newspaper & Press Association yearly competition. David's work has been published in numerous magazines, newspapers, and websites across the United States and internationally.
